Arthur Capper Carrollsburg (Senior Housing)
900 5th Street SE Washington, DC 20003
The Capper Apartments provided 162 units of senior housing as part of the multi-phase Arthur Capper Carrollsburg public housing redevelopment. Originally completed in 2006, the building was tragically destroyed by fire in September 2018. The rebuild was completed in 2020, restoring essential senior housing to the Navy Yard community. This DC Housing Authority and Urban Atlantic project represents the commitment to preserving affordable housing for seniors in the midst of significant neighborhood transformation. The rebuilt facility continues to serve senior residents with quality apartments, community spaces, and access to the neighborhood's amenities including proximity to Harris Teeter, Metro Green Line, and Navy Yard's accessible parks and public spaces.
